February is Black History Month
Our February Newsletter highlights three African American artists. There were many to choose from and all inspirational but the newsletter would have been far too long to include them all! As always, during our research on art and artists we learn and enrich ourselves along the way. Discovering the art is in itself exciting, but learning about the artists is often even more exciting. Each artist has a personal story, but there is also a history lesson with each that describes a time from the past where significant events were dominating life for many. Art is a universal language and stories told through color, form and spacial relations are often far more powerful than those presented in words.
Featured here is art by Lois Mailou Jones. View the newsletter for additional information.
